On November 9th, 2021 from 10-11 am EDT Enterprise Ireland will host their second Glas Collective Event, this time focusing on skincare and beauty brands. The Collective named after the Irish word for green ‘Glas’ aims to bring together Irish retail brands that focus on natural, organic, or sustainable ingredients and packaging to showcase and connect the brands to retail buyers in the U.S. and Canada. Enterprise Ireland spoke with market experts from both countries and scouted tradeshow platforms to curate the event specifically with the purpose of matchmaking the buyers with multiple brands efficiently.
There is currently a great need for more sustainable processes and packaging in the beauty industry. Zero Waste reports that more than 120 billion units of packaging are produced every year by the global cosmetics industry, and many of these are not recyclable. Irish beauty and skincare companies recognize the impact they will have by creating change in their industry.
Each of the 4 companies taking part in the Glas Collective represents innovation not just in their products, but also in their sustainable production and supply chain. They put purpose behind their processes, and keep the health and wellbeing of both the consumer and the planet in mind.
During the virtual event, each of the 4 Irish brands will pitch their products for ten minutes to buyers in both the US and Canada. Along with presenting their products, each of the following brands will touch on their history as well as how they are incorporating sustainability into their production processes.
- Holos Skincare
- The Handmade Soap Company
- Tan Organic
The Kind Brand Company (TanOrganic) makes ethical products for all of TanKind through innovation and integrity. Their mission is to promote both healthy, nourished skin and a happy planet by removing 1lb of plastic from the earth’s oceans for every bottle they sell. Their leading line, Tan Organic, is the world’s first & only Eco-Certified, Organic Self-Tan Brand.
Holos Skincare’s products are handmade in the south east region of Ireland out of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and plant actives specifically chosen to promote sustainability along with healthy skin. Holos works to incorporate nature, science, and consciousness into their brand.
Skingredients is an award-winning results-focused brand created by dermal facialist and bestselling author Jennifer Rock. The Skingredients range is all-inclusive as it is made for people of all skin types, genders, and ages. Their products are entirely fragrance-free and do not contain synthetic scents or essential oils as they can often cause irritation and sensitization.
The Handmade Soap Company creates all of its vegan and cruelty-free products by hand with a personal touch. They even hold workshops allowing their customers to create some of their products including candles, bath bombs, soaps, and lip balms. “We upcycled a derelict linen mill in the village where we are from in Ireland. It doesn’t get much more eco-friendly than that. Our workforce are local, in fact many of us went to school together. We still make things the traditional way, handmade, with the personal touch. It takes time and care and patience – that’s the handmade way.”
Irish cosmetic and skincare companies prioritize effectiveness as well as ingredient quality and transparency. They meet consumer expectations by providing scientifically proven products that are natural and clean from companies that work sustainably.
